Divorce mediation is a voluntary process and is an alternative to court litigation for couples seeking a divorce. The goal of mediation is to reach a mutually agreed upon settlement outside of court.
The mediator is a neutral third party whose role is to facilitate respectful, constructive discussions between the two parties. The mediator remains impartial throughout the process and is committed to keeping all dialogue focused on forward progress.
Mediation is a cost-effective alternative to court litigation, as it is not necessary for attorneys to be present for the duration of the process. Mediation allows parties to actively participate in decisions related to their children, such as child custody, and ultimately allows for more control over the outcome of the divorce.
